StoneFly Joins the Solaris Ready Logo Program with iSCSI Certification on UltraSPARC and x86/x64 Server Platforms and Support for Third-Generation Solaris iSCSI Initiator
QLogic Fusion 2007 Worldwide Partner Conference, San Diego – May 9, 2007 –StoneFly™, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today announced support across its entire IP SAN product line on Sun Microsystems, Inc.’s Solaris™ 10 Operating System (OS). The announcement was made following StoneFly’s completion of rigorous certification testing as part of Sun’s Solaris Ready Logo Program.
All StoneFly product families, including its recently introduced High-Availability Storage Concentrator (HSC), have been certified as having proven interoperability with the Solaris 10 OS on UltraSPARC™ and x86/x64 server platforms. In addition, StoneFly’s StoneFusion™ Intelligent Network Storage Platform, which offers comprehensive storage services and comes standard with each StoneFly IP SAN, is now interoperable with the built-in Solaris iSCSI initiator as well as other third-party hardware-based iSCSI initiators designed for the Sun platform.
“We are pleased to welcome StoneFly into the Solaris Ready Logo family. Their participation ensures that the Sun market can take advantage of Sun-certified iSCSI solutions that address high-performance storage requirements while also offering scalability and affordability,” said Roger Day, Director, Collaboration and ISV Engineering, Sun Microsystems, Inc. “In addition, with the new third-generation Solaris software-based initiator from Sun, Sun customers can now rapidly deploy IP SAN solutions such as StoneFly’s without additional hardware or infrastructure costs, making it easy and cost-effective to gain all the benefits of storage centralization via storage virtualization.”
StoneFly’s HSC, Modular Storage Concentrator (MSC) and Integrated Storage Concentrator (ISC) offerings are among the key product families that have been certified with the Solaris 10 OS. Each HSC, MSC or ISC IP SAN includes a StoneFly Storage Concentrator; StoneFly Snapshot and Reflection synchronous mirroring software; block-level virtualization; and StoneFusion, which features centralized storage management, storage consolidation, access control, volume management, mirroring and provisioning to present SAN storage to hosts as local disks.
For StoneFly, the certification strengthens its commitment to Sun market customers. “With our Solaris Ready qualification, all Sun customers running the Solaris 10 OS will now be able to take advantage of our cost-effective, advanced IP SAN solutions,” said Mo Tahmasebi, CEO of Dynamic Network Factory. “We are committed to a growing presence in the Sun market, where our proven iSCSI storage solutions offer a wide range of benefits, including tiered storage flexibility, ease of deployment, and advanced business continuity.”
