StoneFly Continues to Expand their Disaster Recovery Product Line with Release of Z-Series DR Backup Appliance

Ensuring that there is a perfect backup and disaster recovery solution for every business and every budget, StoneFly’s new Z-Series appliance offers enterprise backup capabilities without breaking the bank.

Hayward, Calif. – March 09, 2015 – StoneFly, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today announced the release of its StoneFly Z-Series DR Backup Appliance.

The newest member of StoneFly’s backup and disaster recovery line of products provides a total backup solution for all of an office or datacenter’s physical and virtual servers and workstations. Utilizing the latest in storage technology architecture, StoneFly’s Z-Series offers capacities ranging from just a few TeraBytes, all of the way up to one PetaByte.

Like the StoneFly DR365 and StoneFly M-Series, the StoneFly Z-Series features the same enterprise backup engine supporting a central management console, granular file / folder / volume or bare metal recovery, SSL-encryption, compression, data deduplication, and all four types of P2P, P2V, V2P and V2V operations to restore any backup to any physical or virtual platform.

“Z-Series appliances are available in integrated, modular and high-availability configurations,” said Mo Tahmasebi, president and CEO for StoneFly. “An optional embedded hypervisor combined with our versatile backup engine allows any backup image of a physical or virtual system to be automatically converted into a Virtual Machine (VM) and spun up directly on the Z-Series appliance.”

Z-Series backup agents support a multitude of environments, including Windows servers and workstations, VMware, Hyper-V, Citrix XenServer, Red Hat Enterprise Virtualization, Oracle VM, as well as multiple flavors of Linux. VMware ESX/ESXi and Hyper-V servers implement agentless backups where the agent is installed only on the hypervisor and not on the actual VMs. Specialized backup agents for Exchange, SQL, SharePoint and Active Directory provide reliable recovery down to an individual email message or database table.

Compatible with StoneFly’s CDR365 Cloud Disaster Recovery Service, backup images from the StoneFly Z-Series appliance can be automatically replicated to secure cloud storage for a true hybrid cloud solution. The CDR365 application combines an easy to use interface with powerful functionality making a disaster recovery plan simple, reliable and affordable.
