StoneFly Announces IP SAN Support for VMware vSphere

StoneFly Works with VMware to Further Next-Generation Computing and Enable Customers to Benefit from the Cloud OS

HAYWARD, CA – April 21, 2009 – StoneFly, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today announced completion of VMware vSphere™ certification across its entire IP SAN product line. StoneFly IP SANs supporting VMware vSphere, including the popular StoneFly Voyager, Integrated Storage Concentrator™ and OptiSAN™ product lines, are now available

Launched today, VMware vSphere is the industry’s first cloud operating system, transforming datacenters into dramatically simplified cloud infrastructures to enable the next generation of flexible, reliable IT services. VMware vSphere gives customers uncompromising control, with greater efficiency, while preserving customer choice.

By supporting VMware vSphere, StoneFly can further extend the value of its IP SANs into customers’ next-generation datacenters and help enable customers to manage large collections of infrastructure — including CPUs, storage and networking — as a seamless, flexible and dynamic cloud environment.

StoneFly IP SANs are already VMware ReadyTM Certified, meaning they have completed the VMware Hardware Certification Program’s iSCSI storage array testing criteria for use with VMware vSphere and ESX Server 4, and are now listed in the VMware Hardware Compatibility Guide. The VMware Hardware Certification Program enables VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program members to provide mutual customers with jointly supported hardware solutions. Passing the extensive certification testing helps ensure that StoneFly IP SANs are compatible with VMware technology and ready for deployment in customer environments.

“We are pleased that StoneFly is taking the next step to helping provide customers with a more flexible, reliable and scalable computing environment “said Bernie Mills, senior director, alliance programs, VMware. “By supporting VMware vSphere, our partners can further enable increased efficiency, control and choice for customers.”

According to Bahman Jalali, director of product management for StoneFly, certification with VMware vSphere demonstrates StoneFly’s commitment to helping customers reduce costs and improve storage and server consolidation efforts. “We’re very pleased to certify our pioneering IP SANs with VMware vSphere,” he said. “As organizations begin to consolidate and take advantage of on-demand infrastructure, they’ll find that our iSCSI storage platform is ideal to support a range of critical applications, from primary storage to business continuity to archiving. Our internal teams are prepared and looking forward to helping customers immediately benefit from the new VMware vSphere platform.”

The VMware Ready program is a VMware co-branding program for qualified partner products and is a benefit of the VMware Technology Alliance Partner (TAP) program. With more than 900 members worldwide, the VMware TAP program works with best-of-breed technology partners to provide them a comprehensive set of VMware technical and marketing services, support, tools and expertise to deliver enhanced value to joint customers.
