Hayward, California – August , 2023 – StoneFly (iscsi.com), a leading innovator in storage, hyperconverged, backup and disaster recovery, and cloud solutions announces the release of its Volume Deletion Protection feature. This cutting-edge addition to StoneFly’s comprehensive ransomware protection suite is specifically designed to prevent accidental or malicious deletions of critical data volumes, fortifying businesses against data loss and unauthorized access.
Security breaches and accidental data deletion pose significant risks to organizations, potentially leading to irrecoverable loss of essential information. To combat these threats, StoneFly introduces the Volume Deletion Protection feature, a formidable barrier against data deletion, even for backup administrators with admin rights.
How Volume Deletion Protection Works
Once enabled, the Volume Deletion Protection feature restricts the ability to delete protected volumes, creating an additional layer of defense for sensitive data. Backup administrators and unauthorized users alike will find their attempts to delete protected volumes futile, ensuring the security and integrity of invaluable information.
Disabling the Volume Deletion Protection Feature
StoneFly has devised a secure and meticulous process to disable the Volume Deletion Protection feature, granting authorized personnel the control to modify data storage configurations when necessary. This meticulous process is called Trusted User Security Test (TRUST).
To initiate the TRUST process, backup administrators need to contact StoneFly support. The support team will then reach out to two predetermined authorized personnel for confirmation of the disable request, ensuring the utmost security.
Once confirmed, the StoneFly support team will request the “Deletion Protection Override Code” from the authorized personnel. Using this code, the support team will generate an authorization code that the backup administrators must paste into the designated input field. This carefully orchestrated process ensures that volume deletion protection is disabled only when authorized personnel require it.
“Data protection is a top priority for organizations facing an ever-evolving threat landscape. Our Volume Deletion Protection feature empowers businesses to safeguard their critical data against ransomware, hackers, and rogue admins looking to delete critical repositories, bolstering their resilience against potential breaches,” stated John Harris, Director Technical Sales at StoneFly, Inc.
Availability
The Volume Deletion Protection feature is now available to enhance the robust data protection capabilities offered by StoneFly’s storage, hyperconverged, backup, and disaster recovery, and cloud solutions.
