The DR365R R2 appliance features a dual-controller architecture within a single-node, delivering two fully isolated operational zones—one dedicated to the Rubrik backup engine and the other to secure, ransomware-resilient storage. This configuration replicates the functionality of separate physical systems while reducing hardware overhead. Each controller runs independently, establishing segmented environments that enhance security, performance, and operational control.
The secondary controller is configurable as a recovery platform with built-in air-gapped and immutable storage, supporting backup, replication, and long-term archival. It offers up to 64 instant recovery points, click-to-restore virtual machines, and automated failover for uninterrupted business continuity. The isolated environment can also serve as a secure sandbox for testing backups, verifying recovery points, or supporting DevOps workflows—without risking production workloads.
