IP SAN Pioneer Leads iSCSI Storage Arena with IP SANs Featuring Integrated RAID 6
San Diego – April 18, 2006 –StoneFly™, Inc., a leading supplier of integrated IP storage area network (SAN) systems and a wholly-owned subsidiary of Dynamic Network Factory, Inc. (DNF), today announced immediate availability of dual-parity RAID 6 protection to maximize business continuity for its most popular IP SAN configurations, including the recently introduced Integrated Storage Concentrator™ (iSC) ,the ValueSAN™ and OptiSAN™ product lines.
“As the only vendor to offer RAID 6 protection for integrated full-featured IP SANs, StoneFly continues its pioneering efforts in the iSCSI storage arena,” said Mo Tahmasebi, CEO of DNF. “With RAID 6 now available with our most affordable IP SAN configurations, we are lowering entry barriers to the most advanced levels of reliability and data protection available.”
Ideal for mission-critical applications and supporting next-generation storage applications, RAID 6 maximizes fault tolerance by using a second independent distributed parity scheme (dual parity) to withstand multiple simultaneous drive failures. The first wave of StoneFly products to incorporate RAID 6 include the iSC-1620 and iSC-2420 systems, which deliver scalable, rapid-to-deploy “IP SAN-in-a-box” functionality, offering a completely integrated configuration consisting of everything a customer needs to create a full-featured SAN.
In addition, ValueSAN, the entry-level offering in StoneFly’s Modular Storage Concentrator (mSC) product line, is now available with RAID 6 in configurations featuring DNF’s Enterprise 16322z array. Designed to support a wide range of choices for external arrays, ValueSAN is a low-cost yet powerful solution for advanced, enterprise-class storage networking that scales over time.
StoneFly OptiSAN, another mSC product line, is also available in select configurations featuring RAID 6. OptiSAN meets the challenges of the most demanding computing environments, with support for high transactional rates and high bandwidth functions. Introduced in 2005, it provides a perfect complement to a Fibre Channel SAN while delivering all the benefits of an IP SAN.
Additional ValueSAN, OptiSAN and mSC configurations with RAID 6 are slated for availability later this quarter. Available now, pricing for StoneFly IP SAN offerings with RAID 6 starts at $13,500 for a 2TB iSC-1620 configuration. StoneFly is also offering promotional pricing for registered channel partners. All iSC configurations also include a StoneFly Storage Concentrator; StoneFly Snapshot and Reflection synchronous mirroring software; block-level virtualization; and the StoneFusion Intelligent Network Storage Platform, which offers comprehensive storage services such as centralized storage management, storage consolidation, access control, volume management, mirroring and provisioning to present SAN storage to hosts as local disks.
